½ cup shortening

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup sugar

1 Tbsp. baking powder

1 egg

¼ cup milk

2 tsp. vanilla


Cream shortening. Add I cup sugar. Add egg and vanilla, mix. Combine flour and baking powder. Add to creamed mixture alternatively with milk. Cover and chill 2 hours. Roll dough to ¼ inch thickness. Cut with 2 inch cookie cutter. Put on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 6-8 minutes, sprinkle with sugar.
