6 slices bacon (cut into pieces)
½ cabbage, chopped (for money!)
½ large onion, chopped
1 can chicken broth
1 pkg. black-eyed peas (for luck!)
2 tsp. Tony Chachere‟s Creole seasoning
Sauté bacon and onion together in a medium sized pot until bacon and onion turn clear and soft. Add can of chicken broth, black-eyed peas, and Creole seasoning. Simmer for 1 hour. Add chopped cabbage, mix well and simmer another 20 to 30 minutes. You may double this recipe for holiday crowd. This absolutely MUST be served on New Year‟s Day to ensure a lucky new year!
