Goliad Bread Pudding

12 slices white bread
1 stick butter
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ to 1 cup raisins
4 cups milk
1 cup white sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla

Butter a 9×13 baking dish. Tear bread into pieces and put in dish. Melt butter with the milk, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla. Add eggs (beaten) and raisins to mixture and pour over bread. Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes. While baking, make the sauce.
½ cup butter
1/3 cup cream or evaporated milk
½ cup white sugar
Combine ingredients in medium saucepan. Cook and stir until creamy. Ladle over top of each serving of pudding. Yields 8 servings.
