Broccoli Cheese Soup

1/3 cup onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, chopped or garlic
1 Tbsp. butter
5 cups chicken broth
1 can (12 oz.) evaporated milk
1 pkg (8 oz.) fine/medium egg noodles
3 ½ cups milk
¾ lb American cheese, cubed
1 pkg (10 oz.) frozen chopped broccoli

In a large saucepan, over medium heat, sauté onions in butter until tender. Add broth and bring to a boil. Add noodles; reduce heat and cook 3 minutes. Stir in broccoli and garlic; cook 4 minutes. Add milk and cheese; cook over low heat until cheese is melted. Stir constantly.  Yield: 12 servings
