Bobbie’s Chocolate Cake

This was my mother-in-law‟s recipe.

Ingredients:
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 cup water (can substitute 1 cup Dr. Pepper)
2 sticks butter or Imperial Margarine
3 Tbsp. cocoa
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ cup buttermilk
½ teaspoon soda

Directions:
Mix flour and sugar and set aside. Combine water, butter and cocoa in boiler and bring to a boil. Add flour and sugar combination to mixture and beat with mixer. Add eggs one at a time and add buttermilk to which soda has been mixed. Add vanilla. Pour in a greased and floured pan and bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes.

Icing:
1 stick of butter or Imperial Margarine
3 Tbsp. cocoa
6 Tbsp. milk (can substitute Dr. Pepper)
1 box powdered sugar
1 cup chopped pecans
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Mix and bring to a boil the butter, cocoa and milk. Add powdered sugar, pecans and vanilla. Ice cake while it is still hot!
